Descendants: Wicked Wonderland (provisional title as Descendants 5; also referred to by the working title For The Win[1]) is an American musical, fantasy and comedy film. The film serves as a sequel to Descendants: The Rise of Red, and is the fifth installment in the Descendants film series.
Filming began in March 2025, in Vancouver, Canada. It will conclude prior to July of the same year, just in time for Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour.
The film is scheduled for release in Summer 2026.
Synopsis[]
Picking up shortly after the events of Descendants: The Rise of Red, this next chapter explores what "happily ever after" is really like for Red and Chloe following their return from their time-traveling adventures and delves into the warning at the end of The Rise of Red, "There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time." An unexpected villain attempts to harness the magic of Wonderland for their own gain when Wonderland plays host to Auradon's Kingdom Cup Games. Red and Chloe must fight the villain to save Wonderland while grappling with the consequences of changing the past.

Production[]
On September 21, 2021, it was announced that two new Descendants movies were in development,[5] one of them ending up being Descendants: The Rise of Red, released on 2024. After the release of The Rise of Red, the film's executive producer Suzanne Todd said that considering the movie ends with a warning about the unforeseen consequences of time travel, there has to be a sequel in the works. She confirmed that Disney is "definitely working on and thinking about a follow-up movie," and that due to the consequences of time travel, in the sequel "there will be future good and evil turns for sure."[6]
On May 6, 2025, the title was announced as Descendants: Wicked Wonderland on the Descendants Instagram.[7]
Casting[]
In February 2025, Kylie Cantrall, Malia Baker and Leonardo Nam were revealed to be reprising their roles from the previous film, with Liamani Segura, Brendon Tremblay, Alexandro Byrd and Kiara Romero joining the cast.[2] In March 2025, Joel Oulette, Zavien Garrett, Ryan McEwen and Dayton Paradis were cast in the film.[3] In May 2025, Brandy, Rita Ora, Paolo Montalban and Melanie Paxson were confirmed to be reprising their roles from the previous film.[4]
Filming[]
Production began in Vancouver, under the working title For The Win on April 1, 2025 and will conclude two months later to the date on June 1.[8][9] Camera tests began on March 27, 2025.[10]
