Diablo 1959

Diablo as he appears originally in Sleeping Beauty.

He is Maleficent's faithful pet and helper. When she asks him to go in search of Princess Aurora to fulfill the curse she imposed on her when she was a baby, Diablo flies until he finds in the forest the cabin where the Three Good Fairies hide Aurora, also hearing that she planned to meet someone that night.

After notifying his owner, Maleficent manages to fulfill her curse, and goes to kidnap the boy Aurora was going to meet, who turned out to be Prince Philip. When the Three Fairies free the prince, Diablo finds them, and flies to warn the guards, who pursue them. As they flee, Diablo continues to squawk as a warning, until Merryweather uses her magic to petrify him, and is later found by Maleficent, who is horrified to see him as a statue.

The Isle of the Lost: A Descendants Novel[]

Diablo is said to remain petrified in Maleficent's castle on the Isle of the Lost. After Carlos De Vil accidentally makes a tiny hole in the magical barrier of the Isle, Diablo's curse was broken, and feeling that the Eye of the Dragon, Maleficent's staff, was awake, he travels to the city on the Isle of the Lost, looking for her mistress. Diablo informs Maleficent about the Eye of the Dragon and she sends her daughter, Mal, to recover the Eye, but since she really doesn't believe her daughter can complete the mission, Maleficent orders Diablo to follow her daughter and retrieve the Eye. Mal and her friends ended successfully finding the Eye, but since the Eye was cursed to make the first person who touched the Eye fall into a thousand years sleep, Diablo takes the Eye out of Mal's hand and returns it to Maleficent.
