Genie in a Bottle is a pop song (originally sung by Christina Aguilera) performed by Dove Cameron, who reprises her role as Mal. The music video premiered on March 18, 2016, during a new Stuck in the Middle episode on Disney Channel.
In the music video, Mal is transported into the magic lamp of Jordan (played by Iman Karram), the daughter of the Genie, after wishing she had Jordan's magical powers. The song and music video are inspired by the "Genie Chic" storyline in the animated short-form series, Descendants: Wicked World.
Immediately following the Disney Channel premiere, the music video for Genie in a Bottle became available on DisneyMusicVevo, and a dance tutorial with Dove Cameron was aired on Disney Channel. On March 20, Disney Channel also presented do-it-yourself genie-chic style videos and a 'Radio Disney Total Access' featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the music video.
Plot[]
Mal comes into Jordan's room and calls out to her. Jordan's voice comes from her magic lamp sitting on a shelf and she giggles and says "Come a little closer, Mal". Mal giggles and walks up to it. She says "Hey" and, "Well, must be kind of nice to be a genie, huh Jordan? Wish I had your kind of magic." Mal gently rubs the lamp and suddenly, a magical mist comes out of the lamp and envelops her. It pulls her into the lamp and she sings and dances and visits many rooms in the lamp. Jordan watches her, and uses magic to change Mal's outfit and make her experience more fun. Eventually, Mal is sent back out of the lamp and her outfit turns back to normal. She's a little stunned by her experience, but feels that she had a lot of fun, and says "Be careful what you wish for I guess." while gazing at the lamp.
