He is the king of Atlantica. When he discovers that his youngest daughter, Ariel, has fallen in love with a human, he becomes enraged due to the resentment he has towards humans.
Days later, he learns of Ariel's deal with Ursula, which led to the former becoming Ursula's property, Triton offered to take his daughter's place, granting his trident to Ursula. After this, Ursula turns Triton into an algae, but after being defeated, he reverts back to his normal self.
Finally, seeing that his daughter is not going to forget the boy he has fallen in love with, he accepts it and turns Ariel into a human, later happily attending his daughter's wedding.
