Lumiere is a servant to Beast and Belle and one of the heroes of Auradon, being originary from the 1991 animated film Beauty and the Beast. He appears as a minor character in Descendants 2 to announce the arrival of Ben at Cotillion and was supportive of Mal after the former was freed from the spell placed on him by Uma.

Candlestick Lumiere

Lumiere as a candelabra in Beauty and the Beast.

He is one of Beast's servants, working as his maƮtre'd. Lumiere was transformed into a candelabra by the sorceress, waiting for the day when Beast would find a girl who would love him.

Human Lumiere

Lumiere as he appears originally in Beauty and the Beast in his human appearance.

When Belle arrives at the castle, he and his companions try to get them together. Days later, when the spell reaches its limit, it breaks thanks to Belle's love for Beast, which makes Lumiere become human again.

Physical Appearance[]

After being turned back human once again, Lumiere had light auburn hair that is tied back by a small yellow bow, he is a slender figure and wore a light yellow undershirt, brown waistcoat with a yellow ascot, yellow and golden-brown pants with white tights and a pair of brown shoes. During Cotillion, he wore a formal, white suit that had golden accents and wears a pair of glasses.

History[]

The Isle of the Lost[]

Half the castle staff of Auradon has signed this petition. This includes Lumiere and Cogsworth since they will sign anything they're asked to, even if it's a petition to declare a holiday every day.

Lumiere asks Ben if he is ready to begin the Council meeting. He bows to Ben after being instructed to let the Council members in. He stays in the Council room during the meeting, likely in his role as a castle staff member. When the meeting starts to get out of hand, Lumiere motions for Prince Ben to cut the meeting short. At the end of the disastrous meeting, Lumiere is left to drag away the mermaid's bathtub.

Lumiere escorts Grumpy into the conference room where Ben is waiting to meet with him.

At the end, Lumiere is measuring Ben for his coronation suit while observing Ben's state of mind.

Rise of the Isle of the Lost[]

Lumiere hands Ben a pair of gem-encrusted scissors at the beginning of the cultural exchange. He informs Ben that Mal hasn't arrived yet and advises Ben to start the ceremony without Mal due to the delay.

Lumiere follows Ben out of the library reception, and expresses concern about Ben's plan to go to Stone City, suggesting that Ben should send an envoy instead or at least bring Lumiere himself along. He also worries about Ben's safety, suggesting that Ben should summon the cavalry to travel on the royal speed train.

Descendants 2[]

Prior to Cotilion, he is mentioned by Ben who in turn asks someone to call him regarding the event. Later that night at Cotillion, Lumiere announces the arrivals of Mal and Ben and once Uma comes into view, he steps aside allowing her to walk down the stairs to Ben.
